Business over Breakfast Clubs
I am also the founder and Managing Director of Business over Breakfast Ltd. I am a consultant to the Forum of Private Business (details a the bottom of this profile), a fantastic organisation who represent over 27,000 business in the U.K. (The FPB at http://www.fpb.org/) I meet between 50 and 60 companies and self employed people every month. I found that every one of the people I met had one thing in common they all wanted more business.
I visited many networking clubs including BNI and BRE as well as a number of independant networking groups and clubs. Although the concept was great, I have to say that I didn't really like the way the clubs operated. I didn't like the pressure put on members to attend (after all they do have a life to lead and a business to run). I also didn't like the apparent pressure to give referrals as this generates bits of paper NOT real business opportunities (I received 4 "referrals" at the first meeting that I attended, I nearly got my cheque book out! However, I'm glad I didn't as they all turned to dust. One person that I called shouted down the phone that he wasn't happy that his phone number and name was given to me without his permission) A lot of people tell me that they dislike the fact that they seem to be lining the pockets of Regional Directors, Area Ambassadors etc. All of whom seem to bring very little to the meetings. After talking with many other visitors and finding that they too like the concept of B-2-B referral clubs but they also disliked the things that I disliked. That is why I formed Business over Breakfast Clubs

I just want to say that Network2Connect is in my opinion the most interactive and pro-active networking website for personal and b2b use.
