There's always a debate every year at this time about whether school holidays are too long or too short. Those that think they are too long say this because they think it takes the students a while to get back in the learning mode, however, those who think they are too short, think that its good for students to have a long break to refresh themselves. I think the holidays are just a right amount of time. Children need a good break from learning to refresh themselves and enjoy their time while they are young.

I agree with you.  My son was shattered at the end of term and is only just recovering.  The weather is preventing him from playing as much football as he would like, but generally I think he needs the break to catch up with being a child. 

We spend so much time forcing them through a curriculum and testing them all along the way, that I think the fun has gone out of being a child and 6 weeks over the summer is essential.
